Favorite

The team that is perceived to be better and is expected to win. (labeled with a “-” sign)

Underdog

The team that is perceived to be worse and is expected to lose. (labeled with a “+” sign)

Spread

The number of goals by which the Favorite is perceived to be better than the Underdog.
Bettors are not necessarily betting on which team will win.
They are betting that the Favorite will win by the Spread amount or that the Underdog will not lose by the Spread amount.

The underdog bettor wins

if this team wins the game outright or loses by an amount smaller than the Spread.

The favorite bettor wins

if this team wins by more than the number that was set as the Spread.

Draw

If the Favorite wins by the exact number of Spread then neither bettor has won or lost and the bet amount will be returned.
